Teardown Notes
The ASUS ROG Keris Wireless AimPoint continues ASUS's modular mouse design philosophy with a highly serviceable internal structure and premium component selection. Disassembly reveals a clean dual-PCB architecture consisting of a primary motherboard and a dedicated front sensor board. The mouse utilizes ASUS's proprietary ROG AimPoint optical sensor capable of up to 36,000 DPI with tracking speeds reaching 650 IPS and 50G acceleration. One of the standout engineering features is ASUS's Push-Fit Switch Socket II system, allowing users to replace or customize the primary switches without soldering. The sockets support compatible 3-pin mechanical switches and selected 5-pin optical switch configurations depending on compatibility. The main click implementation uses transparent red ROG Micro Switches rated for 70 million clicks. The click mechanism is tensioned with ASUS's pivoted button design, minimizing pre-travel while maintaining consistent actuation force. The scroll wheel assembly utilizes a TTC mechanical encoder mounted within a reinforced support structure. The wheel itself is lightweight and designed to reduce rotational inertia while maintaining tactile scrolling feedback. Power is supplied by a 370mAh lithium-polymer battery positioned centrally for optimal weight distribution. Battery retention is secured through a dedicated plastic mounting frame rather than adhesive-only mounting, improving serviceability and long-term reliability. Internal cable management is exceptionally clean, with minimal wiring exposure and multiple molded routing channels integrated directly into the shell structure. Structural ribs throughout the chassis increase rigidity while maintaining a lightweight overall weight of approximately 75 grams. The mouse supports tri-mode connectivity including USB wired, 2.4GHz RF wireless with ROG SpeedNova technology, and Bluetooth connectivity. The USB-C charging port is reinforced and directly mounted to the primary PCB. PTFE skates, pre-tensioned button design, modular switch sockets, and efficient internal layout make the Keris Wireless AimPoint one of the more repair-friendly premium gaming mice currently available. Overall build quality is excellent, with a strong focus on longevity, modularity, competitive gaming performance, and ease of maintenance.
